CREATING SUPPORT FOR FAMILY LIFE & HABITAT

This garden provides for the whole family, offering open spaces for family life, softened by textured planting responding to shade and light conditions. Native plantings support local bird and insect species, while the productive garden supplies produce and attracts pollinators through the seasons. Beneath the canopy of the delicate Myoporum floribundum, shade becomes a quiet strength within the garden. A soft understorey of Tetratheca, Boronia, Veronica, Stylidium and native daisies is woven with ferns and Orthrosanthus, creating a textured planting palette with subtle seasonal flowering.

HARVEST AND HOME

The garden grows as much for the table as it does for the landscape. A wattle-and-wire fence and gate open into a small kitchen garden, producing herbs, vegetables and cut flowers. It provides a steady supply of ingredients for the home, most notably for the client’s much-loved pesto.

TESTED BY MOO

Beyond production, the garden opens into a flexible lawn space and a covered decking area, allowing for gathering, lounging and play - all tested and approved by Moo, a very loveable, lamb-like labradoodle.

MATERIALS WITH MEMORY

Materials found on site were reused and reworked, including the existing brick paths and basalt boulders uncovered during construction. A particularly meaningful element is a timber table built by the client’s late father, which was carefully restored and given new life as a potting table.
