SWAPPING CONCRETE FOR LUSH GARDENS

Hard to believe this Fairfield garden was once mostly fake grass over concrete. The client was keen to retain the existing plants in the raised beds, while the rest became a lush garden centred around a new studio. A low-maintenance native Dichondra lawn replaced turf, suited to the garden’s microclimate.

SHAPING A STRAIGHT RETAINING WALL INTO CURVED SEATING

A curved timber bench seat is integrated into the rear brick retaining wall, creating an inviting place to sit, and a playful feature for children to enjoy.

REUSING EXISTING BRICK

We sought to reuse existing materials wherever possible, using brick reclaimed from the site for the paths and BBQ.

INTEGRATING A NATURALISTIC GARDEN INTO A HERITAGE SETTING

Reclaimed brick paving, sculptural boulders and low-maintenance planting bring a naturalistic feel to the front garden while complementing the heritage character of the home.
