A WATER EFFICIENT GARDEN BURSTING WITH LIFE

This garden was a response to the newly renovated passive house. The clients wanted a garden bursting with native plants and wildlife, incorporating low water needs and permeability across the site.

As a busy family of four (plus Lolly the dog), useable space for entertaining, relaxing and growing herbs was also key.

A WELCOMING NATIVE MEADOW

The front garden is reminiscent of a native meadow, featuring planting to welcome insects, birds, amphibians and reptiles back into the garden. Two soaks hold water in times of heavy rainfall, allowing it to slowly seep back into the surrounding soil.

MEANDERING EXPLORATION

Winding paths meander through the garden, offering movement and exploration.

A HOME FOR ALL

Boulders offer sheltered nooks for lizards and skinks, while tree stumps and logs give habitat for beetles and fungi.

SPACE FOR THE FAMILY

New garden beds and a permeable driveway doubling as entertainment space work in with the existing deck and pergola.

SOFT PLANTING

The entertainment space was softened with productive and scented plantings providing a sensory retreat, shade and seasonal colour.
